Words that rhyme with Overuse
From a sound-design view, overuse is a word the lyric earns weight from by context on a back /uห/, three-syllable, and it spills into a fricative. It's an unremarkable word until the verse asks it to do something. Songwriters reach for it as a common-tongue word. Perfect rhymes turn up in abundance, the family-rhyme classifier finds nothing, and the assonance pool is the one that won't run out. The strict list gives you a chorus' worth of options before you ever need a slant.

Why overuse rhymes the way it does
Pull overuse apart phonetically and you get a three-syllable word with a closing /uห/ (/u/) as the rhyme-bearing vowel; the close tails through a fricative. In our 54,000-word dictionary the perfect-rhyme pool returns 117 matches, family rhymes 0, additive and subtractive together 164, assonance 3,543, and consonance 629. That's a deep perfect column. The song can ride strict rhymes from end to end, only sliding into assonance when the line needs to surprise. The songwriter's move is to pick a small set of strict rhymes for the chorus and open up to family and assonance through the verses. Overuse rewards slant rhyming because the strict pool, when over-used, calls attention to itself.
