Words that rhyme with Synthesis

Synthesis works as a common-tongue word on the lyric side and three-syllable the high /ɪ/ on the sound side — it ends in a hissed consonant at the close. It's a word everyone uses — which is what makes it powerful in a lyric. The perfect column comes up empty, the family column is blank, while the assonance well runs into four figures. When the search is rhymes for synthesis, the answer takes a specific form: the deeper map matters more than the headline count. Assonance is where the modern songwriting toolkit lives for this one.

Why synthesis rhymes the way it does

In our engine, synthesis registers as a three-syllable word on the high /ɪ/ (/ɪ/) that spills into a fricative. In our 54,000-word dictionary the perfect-rhyme pool returns 0 matches, family rhymes 0, additive and subtractive together 24, assonance 12,326, and consonance 3. That's a narrow strict column with a very deep slant well beneath it. Modern songwriting reads those slants as rhymes; the ear has been trained on them for a century. The songwriter's move is to pick a small set of strict rhymes for the chorus and open up to family and assonance through the verses. Synthesis rewards slant rhyming because the strict pool, when over-used, calls attention to itself.
