Words that rhyme with Text
Text reads as a word everyone uses on the page; phonetically it's one-syllable, anchored on the front /ษ/, ending where it ends with a clean stop. It's an unremarkable word until the verse asks it to do something. From the rhyme-data side: strict matches show up in low numbers, the family-rhyme classifier finds nothing, and the slant-by-vowel pool is enormous. From the lyric side, it works as a quotidian anchor. The contemporary ear forgives โ and prefers โ the assonance matches here.

Why text rhymes the way it does
Pull text apart phonetically and you get a one-syllable word with the short /ษ/ (/ษ/) as the rhyme-bearing vowel; the close snaps shut on a stop. In our 54,000-word dictionary the perfect-rhyme pool returns 5 matches, family rhymes 0, additive and subtractive together 251, assonance 12,749, and consonance 37. That's a narrow strict column with a very deep slant well beneath it. Modern songwriting reads those slants as rhymes; the ear has been trained on them for a century. The songwriter's move is to pick a small set of strict rhymes for the chorus and open up to family and assonance through the verses. Text rewards slant rhyming because the strict pool, when over-used, calls attention to itself.
