Words that rhyme with Variant

Variant is a two-syllable word built around the mid /ษ›/, and it closes on the nasal-stop pairing. Its everydayness lets the song surprise around it. Two readings: as data โ€” strict matches don't survive the classifier, the family column is blank, the slant pool is enormous on the vowel side; as lyric โ€” a household-word. Treat the assonance list as the main shelf โ€” the strict column is the footnote.

Why variant rhymes the way it does

Variant is two-syllable, its rhyme-relevant vowel sitting on the centred /ษ›/, then it lands on the nasal-into-stop combo. In our 54,000-word dictionary the perfect-rhyme pool returns 1 match, family rhymes 0, additive and subtractive together 142, assonance 12,983, and consonance 31. That's a narrow strict column with a very deep slant well beneath it. Modern songwriting reads those slants as rhymes; the ear has been trained on them for a century. Practical: skim the strict column first and pick the two or three matches you can sing without thinking. Then move to assonance for the in-between lines. Variant reads as more memorable when the strict matches are reserved for the line endings that matter most.
