About this tool

Morning Pages

Three pages, every morning, before you think.

Morning Pages is a free, distraction-free writing journal designed for songwriters and creatives. The interface is a single page. No toolbar. No spellcheck. No word count while you write. Just open the page and start: stream-of-consciousness freewriting, three pages long, to clear the mental clutter before the proper work begins.

The practice comes from Julia Cameron's "The Artist's Way", the idea that creative blocks lift faster when you empty the head onto a page first. You are not writing for an audience. You are not editing as you go. You are moving the noise out of the way so the real ideas can land later in the day.

Stream-of-consciousness writing pairs naturally with the structured craft of the chord progression builder and RhymeForge. Use Morning Pages to find what you want to say. Use the other tools to finish saying it.

Part of the Undercover Zest songwriting suite. No account, no cost, no catch.

Frequently asked
What is Morning Pages?
A free, distraction-free writing journal for songwriters and creatives, inspired by Julia Cameron's three-pages-every-morning practice. No toolbar, no spellcheck, no editing while you write.
Is it free?
Yes. No account, no signup. Pages save locally in your browser.
How is this different from a regular text editor?
No editing affordances, no autocorrect, no formatting toolbar. The lack of features is the feature: it removes the temptation to revise as you write, which is what blocks the practice.
