The short version: we don’t collect anything. Nothing. From anyone.
Rein runs entirely on your Mac. It has no account system, no analytics, no telemetry, and no crash-reporting service. The only network requests it makes are the ones you initiate (casting media to a device on your network, or connecting your paired phone) and an update check: once a day, Rein fetches a small version file from GitHub to see whether a newer release exists. That request carries no identifiers or personal data, and you can turn it off in Settings → Updates. Your settings live in your Mac’s local preferences. Media you cast is served directly from your Mac to your playback device and never touches our servers — we don’t have servers that see your data.
Rein Remote pairs with your Mac by scanning a QR code. The camera is used only for that scan; images are processed on-device and never stored or transmitted. The connection between phone and Mac is end-to-end encrypted; when it crosses the internet it passes through a relay that forwards encrypted packets it cannot read and does not store. Pairing keys are stored only on your devices. There are no accounts, no analytics and no advertising.
None. We do not collect, store, sell, or share any personal data, usage data, or device data from either app.
The apps collect no data from anyone, including children.
If this policy ever changes, the new version will be posted at this address with an updated date. Since the apps send us nothing, meaningful changes are unlikely.
